aswang festival capiz

Filed under: Uncategorized — by Lhilet Bejo @ 7:40 am

Aswang Festival is a culturally significant and controversial celebration in Roxas City, Capiz intended to change the negative connotation attached to the province popularly called domain of aswang by turning the monster into Capiz’ premier attraction. This annual festivity runs towards the end of October, in time for the yearly observation of All Saints Day or undas in the Philippines. It has been commonly known as the local version of American Halloween celebrations.

During this time, people of all ages await the parade of participating individuals wearing costumes of the most horrifying mythical creatures like tikbalang, wak-wak, and kapre. Going simultaneously with this event is a trade fair of the famous Capiznon sea food products and other local delicacies.

In 2004, the first-ever Aswang Festival received tremendous negative feedback from the local church, which strongly disapproves of belief in such mythical creatures. But the organizers defended the concept of the festivity. According to them, the festival is aimed at changing the negative impression of Capiz as a home of aswang by recognizing it only as a myth and hopefully removing the stigma attached to the word. It intends to showcase Capiz as one of the country’s top tourist destinations having its fine beaches and scenic landscapes. Also, through the trade exhibits, entrepreneurs of small businesses can promote local products to help uplift the economy of the province.

i’m a member of group phoenix in our case study. Our study is about a proposed website for Sta. Monica Parish in Panay which is my home town. I agreed to my proponents that we will feature the Sta.Monica parish because it is my honor to show the world that in the simple town of  Panay it is the home of the biggest bell in asia and third in the whole worl. The said bell which weighs 183 arrobas (10.4tons or 23,000 lbs). It made up of 70 sacks of coins which is contributted by the town folks.

Filed under: Uncategorized — by Lhilet Bejo @ 6:45 am

I was particularly lived in Panay. I grew up in this Municipality. I attended mass particularly in Sta. Monica Parish. I am so proud that this said parish is one of the tourist spot here in Capiz. When we are ask to do a website, the fist option came into my mind is the Sta. Monica Parish. It is also my way of showing that the Parish has its own beauty which is Pan-ayanon,Capiziño & Philipinos should be proud of. The said Parish is recognized by the Department of Tourism and the National Commission on Culture and the Arts.

The Sta.Monica Parish was built during the Spanish conquered the Philippines. The most popular in the Sta.Monica is the biggest bell. According to the history the bell is made in seventy(70) sacks of coins which donated by the town people.

My Plans after Graduation

Filed under: Uncategorized — by Lhilet Bejo @ 3:44 am

After my graduation in this school year. I am planing to take one month vacation first, just to unwind. Maybe i would go to my grandfather’s place. I love to stay with them because there are lots of food. They also own the resort near to their house. They also have a  farm which i love to watch, coz there are a lots cows and chicken,,,hhhhmmm so YUMMY.

Maybe after that i will find a job in Manila. I choose to look for a job in Manila because i want to be with my 2 brothers. If ever i have a chance to choose the company and the position that i will be working, its gonna be in ABS-CBN. Because working in ABS is a dream come true to me. I know that working in ABS is being pay by a high salary too.

If I have my savings i want to send my younger brother to school. It’s my wy of giving my thanks to him for helping my parents to send me in school. Because today he was sending me allowance if my parents are short  in money.

I also plan to build my parents a home, which is my greatest frustration. I want to build it with concrete walls. With complete appliances also for them. It was my of showing to them that whatever difficulties they go through during my school days are being paid.

Kalinga IP House

Filed under: Uncategorized — by Lhilet Bejo @ 3:15 am

kalinga-ip-house1[1] Kalinga is a province which is we can find the simplicity of their living. In my case I have an idea on how they live because I have a friend which live in Kalinga.

She said that there are a lot of tribes in their province. She also belong to one of these tribe. The IP house is one of the example of the different houses which can be found in Kalinga.

The house is made up of their native product. Their roof is made up of straw, their post  and their stairs is from bamboo wood, their wall is from the subali. Though their house not made in concrete materials, but it is beautiful. It only shows that neither we live in the modern world, we are still fan of the native artifact. They also made me realize that we are very lucky enough that today we live in the easiest way of living.

The Indiginouse People

Filed under: Uncategorized — by Lhilet Bejo @ 3:18 am

It was my first experience to meet closely to the different tribe whose living here in the Philippine. Last friday i have an opportunity to meet those people. It is exiting experience. It’s because i now learn on how to appreciate the simplicity of their living.

Their house is so small, therefore, it is beautiful. It is made up of a bamboo, their roof is made up nipa hut, & their things is made in natural leaves. Every tribe have different  culture and thier houses is built in different style. But the way they live thier lives & the way they give importance to the nature have a similarity. For me it is very hard to leave that way.

I also see different naturaly made products. It mabe ithnic but is beautiful. They also show on how to made it. They also exhibit their product. Each tribe has different products. Just like the Ita here in Panay islands. They shows their Natural herbal medicine.

But most of all i was intertained buy the hosptality of each participating tribes. I meet them peronaly. i also have the chance to see their etnic dance which i really love most.

From that experience, I learn on how to appreciate my easiness of  my life. Because of  what I’ve seen on that day.

The Earthquake in Jakarta

Filed under: Uncategorized — by Lhilet Bejo @ 2:06 am

In Jakarta Indonesia, there are 1,100 people are reportedly dead. It is because of the 7.6 magnitude of earthquake. They also believe that there are hundreds to be injured. Imagine that there are also thousands of people who are trapped in their houses and buildings.

The very affected area is the city of Padang. There is no communication available to the said areas because of the damaged brought by an earthquake. The relief operation is also hard to delivered because the roads were cut off. The heavy rainfall also hindered the search & rescue operation.Today the said areas were suffering darkness during night  time.

According to the history if Jakarta this the  second worst hit of quake to their history. The fisrt is during May 2006, which has the record of 6.3 magnitude. Its because the quake at that time trigger the fear of their people to the eruption of the volcano. It has the record of  5,000 people who ared dead.

I notice that these days there are lots of unexpected calamities which is happening in the world. Is these may be a wake up to all of us that we should learn on how to protect of our natural natures.
